“All I had was my toiletry bag and a pair of jeans…”

Imagine being homeless and moving into your new home with nothing . . .

This is a common story for many.  At Richmond Furniture Scheme, we are raising money to provide free Starter Kits for people starting over in difficult circumstances and we need your help. Our 35-piece set includes: a new toaster, kettle, microwave, crockery, pots and pans, cutlery, bedding and more.  The full set costs £125 – please give what you can, however small, it helps.

Amy was homeless and got a grant to spend with us to furnish her new accommodation. In addition, we gave her a kettle, toaster, microwave and crockery.

“All I had was my toiletry bag and a pair of jeans and I couldn’t believe how much help you gave me.  I kept thinking ‘What’s the catch?’ but you just said: ‘Don’t worry, just go home and we’ll deliver it all’.  And they did, it was amazing!

“A kettle even on its own gives you so many possibilities, I’m sat here with my tea so my kettle is still going strong!”

Richmond and Wandsworth councils, housing associations and local charities give grants to people in need, which they spend with us to furnish their homes.  In addition, we give each grant recipient a Kitchen Starter Kit.

The cost of living crisis coupled with pressure on rented accommodation means we are helping more and more people – up 79% on last year.

Please use the button below to donate to our JustGiving page. All money received will go towards acquiring Starter Kits – not a penny is used for administration.

Gift Aid

Donating furniture using Gift Aid allows us to generate an extra 25% in income and is worth thousands of pounds to the Scheme.  This money allows us to help more people to get affordable furniture, strengthen our community with volunteering opportunities and save more furniture from ending up in landfill.

Any UK tax payer can make charitable donations of money or goods using Gift Aid.  All we need is your permission and your name and address, we can take this over the phone or in person and you can tick the Gift Aid box when you use our furniture donations online form.
